Talia Gibson reached her first WTA final through three completed wins and a semifinal walkover. Tennis Australia’s September 26, 2026 report described a Singapore week that began with her first singles match wins at WTA 500 level and carried her all the way to the final.
In the September 25 quarterfinal, Gibson beat seventh seed Maria Sakkari 6-1, 4-6, 6-2. She converted six of fourteen break points, while Sakkari took two of three. Gibson held ten of her twelve service games.

Earlier straight-sets wins over Fiona Ferro and Viktoria Morvayova had brought Gibson to the last eight. Against Sakkari, she lost the second set before taking the third 6-2 to reach her first tour-level singles semifinal.
Tennis Australia reported that semifinal opponent Tatiana Prozorova withdrew after sustaining a concussion in doubles. Gibson’s place in the final on September 26 was therefore secured by a walkover, with her completed-match win total for the week remaining three.
