Andrey Rublev played two tiebreaks before closing out a 6–1 deciding set against Hugo Gaston. He won their Hangzhou quarter-final 6–7(6), 7–6(4), 6–1 on September 27, 2026.
Gaston took the first tiebreak 8–6. Rublev won the second 7–4 to level the match, then collected six of the final set’s seven games.

The route differed from Rublev’s previous match. He had beaten Rinky Hijikata 6–3, 6–3 in 77 minutes on September 25; against Gaston, he had to recover from a lost set and contest another tiebreak.
The second seed advanced to face Kyrian Jacquet, who beat Fabian Marozsan 7–6(12), 6–4 to reach his first tour semi-final. Both semi-finalists therefore came through extended opening-set tiebreaks in the quarter-finals.
