Botic van de Zandschulp saved eight of nine break points to defeat Arthur Fils in Shanghai. He won their third-round match 7-5, 6-4 on October 12, 2026.

Fils created nine break chances to his opponent’s six. Yet the conversion count was one break for Fils and three for Van de Zandschulp: fewer openings produced more return games won.

Van de Zandschulp won 35 of 45 first-serve points, compared with Fils’s 22 of 34. Both hit six aces, but their first-serve points won and break-point outcomes differed.

The tournament’s official head-to-head listed this as their first tour-level meeting. Tennis.com also recorded a Fils win at the Bordeaux Challenger in 2024, an earlier encounter outside that tour-level tally.
