China’s 21-year-old Yi Zhou saved three set points from 3-6 in the opening tiebreak before upsetting Lorenzo Musetti. He won the Shanghai second-round match 7-6(7), 3-6, 7-6(1) on October 9, 2026.

Zhou attacked the net behind a second serve to close out the opening set. After taking that tiebreak 9-7, he encouraged the home crowd to raise the noise.

He lost the second set but built a 5-0 lead in the deciding tiebreak, finishing it 7-1. Zhou hit 14 aces across the match and won both tiebreaks.

The Beijing-born wild card’s third-round opponent was 2023 champion Hubert Hurkacz. After Hurkacz defeated Novak Djokovic earlier that evening, Zhou’s win over Musetti completed their matchup.
