Maja Chwalinska beat Iga Swiatek 7–5, 6–1 in Wuhan’s October 17 semifinal. She saved two set points at 3–5 in the opener, then won ten of the final eleven games from that position, securing her first WTA 1000 final in two hours, eight minutes.

Swiatek received treatment on her leg after the ninth game. Afterwards, she said she had managed quadriceps pain since early in the tournament and found it harder that day. Chwalinska credited her pursuit of every ball with making her opponent do extra work.

The result was Chwalinska’s first top-10 win. It took her 2026 tour-level total to seventeen victories, eleven on hard courts, after only four tour-level wins before this season. This was her second tour final, following Roland Garros.
