Alejandro Davidovich Fokina recovered from a set and a break down to win his first ATP Masters 1000 title. He beat Rafael Jodar 1–6, 7–6(5), 6–4 in the Shanghai final on October 18, 2026, after two hours and 28 minutes.

Jodar won all seven points that lasted more than nine shots in the opening set. He broke for 3–2 in set two, but Davidovich Fokina immediately recovered the break. The eventual champion then saved five break points across three service games to reach the tiebreak.

The players exchanged breaks early in the decider before Davidovich Fokina broke again in game five. He protected that lead to add Shanghai to his Mallorca and Chengdu titles. Having lost his first five tour-level finals, he has now won his next three.

His winning run on Chinese soil reached 10 matches. The tournament projected a career-high No. 13 ranking for the October 19 list, with runner-up Jodar expected to return to his joint career high of No. 11.
