Liam Draxl closed the opening set with an ace on his eighth set point before beating Arthur Rinderknech 6–2, 7–5 in the Davis Cup Qualifiers Second Round in Quebec City on September 18, 2026.
Draxl missed five set points in Rinderknech’s seventh-game service hold. Serving at 5–2, he then saw a 40–15 lead become deuce, but delivered two big serves to finish the set on opportunity number eight.

In the second set, his 40–0 lead while serving at 4–5 disappeared and he faced a set point. An ace helped him escape. He then broke in the next game, using a lob to set up a winning drop volley.
Tennis Canada identified this as Draxl’s first match against a Top-50 opponent. He saved all three break points and broke three times, giving Canada a 1–0 lead over France.
