Adrian Mannarino, 38, defeated Flavio Cobolli 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 at the Shanghai Masters on October 9, 2026. After a dominant opening set and a lost second set, he won the decider to reach round three.
The tournament report counted 42 unforced errors from Cobolli. The Italian had levelled the match through the second set, but the final set went to Mannarino 6-3.

Cobolli had also lost his opening match in Beijing the previous week. He stood fifth in the Live Race in the tournament’s October 9 report, making this a second successive early exit during the Chinese hard-court stretch.
Mannarino’s next opponent was 26th seed Karen Khachanov. Khachanov won a match featuring three tiebreak sets against Arthur Fery that day to complete their third-round pairing.
