Rafael Jodar defeated Daniil Medvedev 6–3, 6–4 in the Shanghai Masters semifinal on October 17, 2026. The 20-year-old reached his first Masters 1000 final in one hour and 44 minutes, becoming the youngest finalist in the tournament’s history.

Jodar hit 22 winners to Medvedev’s 14. After losing a break advantage in the second set, he won three of the last four games. His previous four wins had all required recovery from a set down; the semifinal took two sets.

The result was his 20th Masters 1000 win of the season. The official report identifies him as the second-youngest man to reach that seasonal total, after Rafael Nadal recorded 28 wins at age 19 in 2005.

He faces Alejandro Davidovich Fokina at the Qi Zhong Tennis Center on October 18, with the final scheduled for 16:30 China Standard Time, or 17:30 in Korea. Both players are seeking a first Masters 1000 title.
