Fernando Verdasco’s farewell match was the Doha doubles quarterfinal on February 19, 2025. Partnering Novak Djokovic, he lost 5-7, 4-6 to second seeds Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten in 88 minutes.
The winners took 33 of 40 points behind their first serve, rounded to 83% in the ATP report. Djokovic and Verdasco had reunited for the first time since 2007 and beaten Bublik and Khachanov in the opening round.

Retiring at 41, Verdasco left 559 tour-level singles wins, seven singles titles and eight doubles titles. A professional from 2001, he reached a singles career high of No. 7 and the 2009 Australian Open semifinal.
The doubles setting also reflected a major part of his career. He won the 2013 ATP Finals with David Marrero and reached No. 8 in doubles. His final Doha appearance brought together both sides of that record.
