Mirra Andreeva, the 2026 French Open champion, and Wimbledon winner Linda Noskova qualified for their first WTA Finals. WTA’s October 9 report placed them alongside Elena Rybakina and Aryna Sabalenka in the Indian Wells field.

Andreeva entered the final week of the previous season’s Race in eighth place but missed out after Tokyo, when Rybakina and Jasmine Paolini took the remaining berths. This season she secured qualification before that last-week squeeze.

WTA lists seven champions on their first singles appearance, including the inaugural 1972 event. Ashleigh Barty lost to Kiki Bertens in the 2019 group stage but beat Elina Svitolina 6-4, 6-3 in the final. In 2016, Dominika Cibulkova advanced with a 1-2 group record and then defeated Angelique Kerber 6-3, 6-4 in the final.
