Wild card Zheng Qinwen won her first WTA 1000 title in Beijing on October 11, 2026, beating Mirra Andreeva 7-5, 6-4 in one hour and 43 minutes. At No. 54, she became the event’s first wildcard champion and lowest-ranked champion since its reintroduction in 2004.
After falling behind 0–2, Zheng recovered and saved three set points in the tenth game. She won the final eleven points of the opening set to take it 7–5. The players exchanged early breaks in the second, before Zheng broke in the ninth game and held to finish.

The title marked a comeback for Zheng after her ranking had fallen to No. 160 midway through the season. WTA’s October 11 report projected a return to the Top 30 the following week. She described rediscovering her competitive drive after losses and outside doubts, having survived four three-set matches before winning her final three in straight sets.
