Wilson BLADE 100 V10

On court: flex, restrained power, quick hands

Everything starts with flex. Wilson says its FORTYFIVE technology, with fibers laid at 45 degrees, adds stability while keeping the Blade's flex and feel, and describes the frame bending inward and releasing that stored energy into the ball. For V10, Wilson refined StableFeel for rock-steady stability and a sharper feel; Tennis Warehouse says the update targets less wobble on off-center hits. Direct Connect, which fuses the end cap to the handle, adds to the connected feel.

Power is restrained. Tennis Warehouse rates it Low-Medium and aims it at medium-fast swings with medium-to-full strokes. A constant 22 mm beam is a different recipe from power frames that swell through the middle: the ball goes where, and as far as, you swing it. Tennis Warehouse's emphasis is on command, the confidence to aim at lines. Fast, complete swings produce a ball that stays in; short, chopped swings will sometimes come up short.

It moves quickly. Strung balance is 330.2 mm, four points head-light, and the 319 swingweight is ten points below the Speed MP 2026's 329. Tennis Warehouse finds that speed useful on defense, for extra spin and for quick reactions at net. A lower swingweight is easier to accelerate but also easier for heavy balls to push around, so when blocking pace, set the face early and meet the ball in front.

Spin comes easily. Tennis Warehouse singles out how easy it is to aim while brushing up on the ball. It suits players who mix topspin into deep, accurate drives more than those chasing maximum RPM.

Strings and tension: poly for direction, gut for touch

Tennis Warehouse lists a 47–57 lb range with 52 lb as the optimum. Full-swing baseliners can start with Luxilon ALU Power in 1.25 mm at 50–52 lb. A firm polyester in a flexible frame strikes a good balance between direction and feel. If balls fly long, go up 2 lb; if they land short, come down.

If comfort and touch come first, try Wilson Natural Gut in the mains with Luxilon ALU Power in the crosses: the gut gives pocketing and pop, the polyester crosses add direction and durability. If your arm is sensitive, a full bed of the multifilament Wilson NXT (1.24 or 1.30 mm) is the gentlest choice. Softer strings generally add power and comfort and reduce control, so when you move off polyester, start 1–2 lb higher.

Tell your stringer: one piece, no shared holes, mains skip 8T and 8H. Polyester loses tension faster than nylon and snaps back less readily as it wears, so when balls start sailing and spin fades, restring. Tennis Warehouse notes that Wilson tightened its weight, balance and swingweight tolerances for V10, welcome news if you play with matched frames. For a heavier ball, a little lead at 12 o'clock helps, but it raises swingweight immediately.

Choosing within the line: 98, 100 PRO, 100L, 104

The closest comparison is the Blade 98 16×19 V10: 98 in², 305 g and 320 mm, measured by Tennis Warehouse at 323 g, a 322 swingweight and 61 RA on a 21.5–21.5–20.5 mm beam. Same stiffness, but the 98 is thinner and slightly heavier, sending the ball lower and more precisely. The 100's larger head and three-point-lower swingweight make it easier to keep depth on imperfect contact. The Blade 98 18×20 V10 goes further toward tight control.

The Blade 100 PRO V10 is not simply a heavier version. At 295 g it is actually lighter, but it stretches to 27.25 inches with a 16×20 pattern and a 23 mm beam, and Tennis Warehouse measures 68 RA and a 318 swingweight: firmer and longer, for more leverage on serve and more pop. If 300 g feels like a lot, the Blade 100L V10 (285 g, 330 mm) keeps the head and pattern; for more help, the Blade 104 V10 offers 104 in², 290 g and 27.5 inches. Coming from v9? Its 322 swingweight and 60 RA are almost identical, so you can keep your setup.
